The Sasamani Foundation is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty through education. Sasamani provides access to holistic education sponsorships to students from vulnerable families in Bagamoyo, Tanzania, with an emphasis on empowering girls.
The Education Sponsorship program currently supports 200 students and partners with five local schools in Bagamoyo. This support spans from secondary school all the way through college, ensuring that students have access to quality education and opportunities for a brighter future.
The program’s impact is profound in Tanzania, where access to secondary education is limited due to factors such as poverty and indirect schooling costs, long distances to schools, limited access to learning materials, and gender disparities, with girls facing higher dropout rates due to factors like child marriage and inadequate sanitation facilities.
With support from our donors, The Sasamani Foundation addresses these barriers by providing holistic support, including: meals, room and board, health insurance, stationary, and other school supplies, along with support from a Sasamani social worker.

What impact has Sasamani had on your life?
“Sasamani believed in me when I needed it most. Through the Education Sponsorship Program, I was able to complete my studies and achieve my dream of becoming a teacher. Today, I am a government primary school teacher and I am proud to be in a position where I can give back. My goal is to continue to support children who are struggling to stay in school by helping with school supplies and encouraging them to keep learning. I believe that when one person is given an opportunity, they can create opportunities for many others. Thank you, Sasamani, for changing my life and inspiring me to make a difference in the lives of others”.

• In our first post-graduate survey, we successfully tracked 22 of 79 total graduates. Among respondents, 70% (16 graduates) reported formal employment and 30% (6 graduates) reported informal employment, demonstrating that a significant proportion of Sasamani-sponsored graduates are entering income-generating roles that support themselves and their families.
• When measured 4 out of 5 students are more optimistic about their future for a period of three years from 2021 to 2024 showing how Sasamani has positively impacted their lives.
• 30 middle school students graduated with an average passmark of second class and at least 100% will proceed with higher education in 2026.
• 100% of the girls who signed up for middle school sponsorship in 2023, successfully graduated in 2025 without early pregnancy or dropout. This showed commitment to their education and self-set goals for their future.
• 9 students graduated from college and the Sasamani Education Sponsorship program.
When you sponsor a student, you make a transformative, positive impact on a student's life, and in turn, a ripple of positive change for their families and their community.
A $40 monthly or $480 annual donation covers a student's school fees from middle school through college and ensures each student's basic needs are met such as food, boarding costs, health insurance, hygiene and school supplies, and transportation.
