Empowerment Through Technology

Tech4All: Bridging the Digital Divide

Welcome to Tech4All, an initiative by the Sasamani Foundation dedicated to bridging the digital divide in Tanzania and further empowering Sasamani Education Sponsorship students to shape their future. In a world where digital skills are paramount, Sasamani firmly believes every student deserves access to computer literacy and the opportunity to unlock their full potential.

In June 2023, Tech4All was officially launched with a clear mission: to provide every student in the Sasamani Education Sponsorship program with an opportunity to gain the essential skills and resources they need to thrive in today's digital landscape. Tech4All provides access to a three-month computer literacy certificate course to all 200 Sasamani Sponsorship Students. The computer course is hosted at the Sasamani Office in Bagamoyo, Tanzania.

The Urgency of Digital Skills

Only 13.5% of Tanzanians aged 15 and above use computers and the internet, with estimates suggesting 6% of the total population has access to the Internet, among the lowest in Africa. Limited digital access creates barriers to information, education, healthcare, and jobs, intensifying social and economic exclusion.

This exclusion can further deepen the poverty cycle, as disadvantaged people may find it more challenging to improve their circumstances.

Sasamani's focus groups with Education Sponsorship students unveiled a stark reality; none had ever used a computer. This digital gap hampers their aspirations. The students recognized that a computer literacy certificate opens doors to employment, and Sasamani responded to their needs.
